Celebrating the multi-generational collection of chinese paintings and scrolls, this exhibit sought to have strong appeal for connoisseurs as well as for those with little previous exposure to Chinese cultural traditions. With 60 objects ranging from 13th century hand scrolls to 19th century hanging scrolls, this temporary exhibit in a 2200 square foot gallery has redefined the norms for display of these types of objects. A highlight of the exhibit design includes the successful display of one 50 foot long hand scroll illuminated by continuous dimable invisible LED lighting. Particular attention was paid to making "green" decisions. By using no voc paint, LED lighting throughout and reusable case types, this exhibit is a great example of reducing the waste commonly associated with temporary exhibits.
